Homemade Crackers

7:43 PM | Published by Unknown

Ok I was a total skeptic...homemade crackers? Will it even turn out like the picture I saw? Will it even taste good? But OH MY GOSH!!!! They are so good :)

1. You will need whole wheat flour, butter, salt, and cheese of your liking. I used my homemade butter that I made yesterday. What a great use of it!

2. In a bowl add your flour, butter, and salt. Use a hand mixer or a food processor to blend until the butter is completely mixed in with your flour. You don't want any large pieces remaining. This will take about 2-3 minutes. Then add a cup of shredded cheese. I added monterey jack but cheddar would have been great!

3. Next, add your water and mix until the flour clumps together in a ball. Keep adding additional water if it doesn't clump for you after 5 minutes. I had to add about another tablespoon of water for it to start sticking and clumping together. I got kind of frustrated.....haha yelling at my mixer to start clumping it together until I just figured out to start adding more water. So don't get mad or give up!

4. Wrap it up in wax paper and place in fridge to chill for one hour.

5. After an hour take it out of the fridge and only work with half at a time. It kind of looks like meat....gross!

6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out the dough so it is about 1/8 inch thick....or really thin. Just think Wheat Thins status. Then cut it in squares with a pizza cutter.

7. Lightly coat the top with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Then transfer one square at a time to a baking sheet covered with parchment paper, flipping the pieces as you do. When all squares are on the baking sheet lightly coat the other side with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Make sure pieces don't touch!

8. Bake one sheet at a time for 10-15 minutes. Mine took 13-15 minutes to get a nice brown color.

9. Store in a airtight container. They should last about a week if they can survive that long. My batch made 80 crackers and I am already down to 60...oops! But they are so good :)

Prep time:
25 minutes

Cook time:
10-15 minutes

Servings: 70-90 crackers

Ingredients:

1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. soft butter
1 cup grated cheese
3 tbsp. water (I used 4)
Salt and olive oil for topping (optional)

Nutritional Facts:

I had a hard time figuring this out but it is hardly anything! These are super healthy

But wait.... my post is not over yet! Doesn't that dip look good too! Well it is a spinach dip recipe you can find right on the back of a store bought flavor package. Knorr's Vegetable mix hasthe recipe right on the back!

Can't go wrong with this dip! Everyone asks me what it is and how to make it and I just tell them the packet that you can buy at any grocery store :)
