Hello old and new friends! I am not huge on laying out a huge life story about myself but what I am most excited about is telling you all why I decided to create a blog. But just in case any of you are dying to hear something about me...here it is in a few short sentences.
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada in a family that is very strong in the faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS for short). I graduated high school a year early and made my way up to Dixie State College (now a University) in St. George, Utah. There I received my Associates of Science...wow very general right?! To complete my schooling I had to make the decision to transfer to another school because at the time Dixie did not hold many bachelor programs. So the next school getting ready to take on Jamie was at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. There I completed my degree and received my Bachelors in Mathematics with a Secondary Education emphasis. What do you do with a math degree? Teach school of course! After graduating college I moved further north in Utah and have taught a year and a half at a high school and another year and a half at a junior high school. Which one do I prefer the most you may ask? Elementary school! haha No, in all honesty I loved teaching all grades. I have taught every grade from 7th to 12th and every grade holds some special quality that I wouldn't want to change about them.
Since I graduated college I have also met the love of my life and best friend. Ryan Porter asked me to marry him in the late Spring of 2013 and we were married for time and all eternity in the Bountiful Temple on August 16th. Everyday is a new day filled with love, laughter, teasing, growing, and life long lessons. He surely is one of a kind.
Alright, enough about me already. I could kind of puke...or fall asleep, which ever one comes first. So here is the why on why I decided to create a blog about cooking and the everyday house that the majority of us came from.
I was always around my mother who made a family meal every single night. It is her who I thank for my love of cooking. My mothers meals were not super fancy made up of only the finest ingredients and put together by only the highest tech tools, but they were well-balanced, nutritious, and so easy that even her daughters could whip them together. Yes that is including me! So I am here to bring to you my version of "healthy, cheap, look like you know what you are doing in the kitchen" recipes. I will include everything from tips to tricks, my favorite things in the kitchen, appetizers, desserts, and family meals.
So while I am cooking, come and start Kreepin' around in my Kitchen! Hope you enjoy :)
